Passenger Assaults Capitain of IndiGo Flight: Passenger Recounts Turbulent Flight Experience
New Delhi: A passenger on the Delhi-Goa IndiGo flight, where a traveler assaulted the captain after an extensive delay, shared his first-hand account of the incident.
Taking to his social media account, Sanal Vij who claimed to be on board on that flight, emphasized that while he does not support violence, IndiGo capitalized on the situation to conceal their mismanagement. The flight, scheduled for 7:40 AM, eventually departed at 05:35 PM after facing multiple delays.
Vij described a series of delays, including boarding starting at 12:20 PM after a 5-hour delay due to bad weather. Despite completing boarding by 12:40 PM, the flight doors remained open until 2:50 PM, with ground staff blaming air traffic control congestion. Allegations included crewmembers being unprofessional, providing misinformation, and ignoring requests for water from elderly passengers.
The delayed crew member arrived at 2:40 PM, and although the doors closed, the plane did not push back promptly, leading to inquiries and a verbal altercation.
The assistant captain addressed passengers around 3:20 PM when the assault occurred. Vij questioned IndiGo’s handling of the situation, highlighting mismanagement, unprofessionalism, and passengers being stranded without food for hours. The incident raises concerns about IndiGo’s conduct and calls for authorities to investigate and prevent such mismanagement in the future.
.@DGCAIndia @MoCA_GoI @JM_Scindia @IndiGo6E I don’t support violence, but the airline took advantage and hid all their mismanagement and mistakes in lieu of what the passenger did. Below is a first-hand account of the incident. #DelhiAirport #Indigoairlines #Indigo pic.twitter.com/tNQBKQKwSi
